About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can operate with high ownership, independence, and leadership in enterprise-scale projects. This role goes beyond documentation — the ideal candidate will drive requirement clarity, challenge assumptions, lead discussions, and act as the primary requirement authority for the delivery team.
You will work closely with clients, product owners, architects, developers, QA, and PMs, but you are not expected to ALWAYS rely on PMs for direction. You should be comfortable taking charge of requirement discovery, refinement, and scope control from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement Ownership & Analysis
- Lead end-to-end requirement discovery for enterprise-level applications involving complex workflows and multiple stakeholders.
- Analyze business needs, identify gaps, dependencies, risks, and edge cases early.
- Convert ambiguous inputs into clear, actionable requirements without waiting for direction.
Documentation & Artifacts
- Create and maintain:
- Business Requirement Documents (BRD)
- Functional Requirement Documents (FRD)
- User stories, use cases, and process flows
- Produce low-fidelity artifacts (wireframes, flow diagrams, mockups) to freeze scope early and avoid downstream ambiguity.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
JIRA & Backlog Leadership
- Own backlog creation and refinement in JIRA.
- Write high-quality user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Structure backlog using appropriate issue types (Epic, Story, Task, Bug, Change Request).
- Perform story slicing (vertical & horizontal) to support incremental delivery.
- Ensure backlog readiness by enforcing Definition of Ready (DoR).
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as Level-1 functional authority for developers, QA, UX, and other cross-functional teams.
- Lead refinement and requirement walkthrough sessions confidently.
- Clarify requirements proactively by routing through the PM.
- Challenge solutions when they do not meet business intent.
UAT & Delivery Support
- Drive UAT planning, execution support, and feedback consolidation.
- Ensure business feedback is translated into clear actions and resolved before go-live.
- Validate delivered solutions against original business intent.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on enterprise-scale projects
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- JIRA (advanced usage, not basic ticketing)
- User story writing & acceptance criteria
- BRD, FRD, and functional documentation
- Ability to work independently and lead without ALWAYS relying on PM instructions
- Strong understanding of Agile / Scrum ceremonies and delivery flow
- Proven experience working directly with clients and senior stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and big-picture thinking
Good to Have / Added Advantage
- Experience creating low-fidelity wireframes or process flows (Figma, Lucid, Draw.io, etc.)
- Strong experience using JIRA and Confluence for documentation, decision logs, and requirement tracking
- Exposure to compliance-heavy or regulated domains
- Ability to mentor junior BAs or guide team members on requirement best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field
- Relevant certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, or equivalent (preferred, not mandatory)
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- Delivery teams clearly understand what to build and why without repeated clarifications
- Minimal requirement churn during development
- High-quality backlog that enables predictable delivery
- Stakeholders trust you as the single source of truth for requirements
- PMs see you as a partner, not someone they need to micro-manage
